Aunty M's Embroidery http://www.auntymdesigns.com auntym@auntymdesigns.com Instructions for pillowcase project Fabric needed: 3/4 yard for body of pillowcase 1/3 yard for border of pillowcase 1/8 yard for accent strip Cutting fabric: From 3/4 yard, cut one piece 25" x 41" From 1/3 yard, cut one piece 12" x 41" From 1/8 yard, cut one piece 3" x 41" Seam allowance for all seams: 1/2" 1. With the wrong sides together, press the 3" x 41" strip in half lengthwise to create accent strip. 2. With the wrong sides together, press the 12" x 41" strip in half lengthwise to create border strip. EMBROIDERY on the border strip should be done at this point. 3. Sandwich the folded accent fabric between the RIGHT side of the 41" length of body fabric and the RIGHT side of the border piece. Border fabric should NOT be folded. 4. Stitch along this edge. 5. Press the accent fabric towards the body fabric. Press the border fabric away from the body fabric. Inside seam should be pressed towards the opening of the pillowcase. 6. Fold the pillowcase RIGHT sides together along the length of the fabric. Make sure the border fabric is NOT folded. 7. Stitch the bottom and the sides of the pillowcase. Serge to finish edges. 8. Turn the border strip at the fold to the inside of the pillowcase. Turn the raw edge under slightly less than 1/2" and pin in place. 9. Finish the pillowcase with a decorative stitch or hand sew.
